Product introduction
Our products work with Microsoft® Excel® so if you already have Microsoft Excel version 2000 or later installed on your PC,
you can have our applications up and running in seconds.

Although based on Microsoft Excel, our products use the power of Microsoft® Visual Basic® for Applications to provide a point-and-click menu driven interface which you will find intuitive and simple to use.

Instructions on downloading and opening our products
Please note that download speed can be affected by Internet traffic, however, indicative estimates are that our largest product will typically take less than fifteen seconds to download on a 4mb broadband connection, around a minute on 512k broadband, and around 6 minutes on 56k dial-up modem.
Follow this step by step guide to download and install your product.
  1. Left click on the Download link.
  2. You will be presented with a File Download dialogue box asking whether you wish to Open or Save the file [NB – please see below for simple advice on what to do if this dialogue box doesn’t appear when you click the download link]
  3. Click Save and you will be given the opportunity to specify where on your computer you would like to save the file. We recommend that you give some thought to this before starting to download the file and, if necessary, before you begin, create a new folder where the file can be stored; for example, c:/myDepartmentAdmin/. Select the location in which to save the file and click the Save button.
  4. When you receive the message that the download is complete, click Close.
  5. The file is now downloaded. You can now start Microsoft® Excel®, select File – Open, and open the file from location you chose at step 3.
  6. You will be presented with a Security Warning dialogue box telling you that the product contains Macros from Little Big Solutions Limited and asking whether you wish to Enable or Disable them. You must select Enable Macros for the product to function properly. If you are unfamiliar with macros we recommend that you read the information below about macros and your security before doing this.
  7. Once you have opened the file we recommend that you go to the Product Information and Guide Section and read the information on Getting Started with your product.
What to do if you do not see the File Download Dialogue box when you click the download link
Some systems may have been set up to recognise Microsoft Excel files and open them automatically within Microsoft® Internet Explorer®. You can easily recognise when this is happening: instead of seeing the File Download dialogue box mentioned at step 2, you will jump straight to step 7 and be presented with the Security Warning dialogue box telling you that the product contains Macros and asking whether you wish to Enable or Disable them.

This method of opening Microsoft Excel files inside Microsoft Internet Explorer is not suitable for applications of the size and complexity of our products and they will not function properly if opened in this way. In the event that this happens, you should click the red and white cross box in the top right corner of the Security Warning dialogue box which will cancel the file opening.

Fortunately, it is easy to get around this issue – at step 1, simply click the Download link with your right mouse button (instead of the normal left click) and select ‘Save Target As…’ from the available options. You can then proceed as from step 3.

Useful tips on setting your download options in Internet Explorer
If you wish to permanently prevent your computer from attempting to open Microsoft Excel files within Microsoft Internet Explorer, and are comfortable changing the settings on your computer, you can make the following changes to your system configuration in Microsoft® Windows®.
  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select Folder Options
  3. Select the File Types tab
  4. Select XLS type files from the list and click the Advanced button
  5. Ensure that the tick box entitled ‘Confirm open after download’ is ticked
  6. Ensure that the tick box entitled ‘Browse in same window’ is not ticked
  7. Click OK and then Close
With this set up, whenever you select a link to an Microsoft Excel file you will now be presented with the File Download dialogue box asking whether you wish to Open or Save the file. Note that if you do choose to Open a file it will now open in a separate Microsoft Excel window and not in your browser. Note also that you can use this method to change the behaviour for other file types such as Microsoft® Word® documents.
